We live in a small country town in NSW, population 80….

We have Ma and Pa Kettle living on one side and the stereotypical drunk, druggie, black family on the other…

Now before you jump on your high horse and start with the”they are not all like that” or “how rude and wrong etc” I am only saying that this particular family fit the stereotype that is publicised in the media.. I am more than aware that not all indigenous people are like that, just in this case these ones are…. and don’t give me the money spin… they drive a new Nissan Patrol 4WD and have a near new Ford Falcon…. they have plenty of cash…

In the first week we lived here we had the kids throwing rocks at the house and car, the second week, when it was 44 degrees out they were lighting bonfires in the yard, the rats, mice and stench from the rubbish in the yard is horrid… we decided to kep our distance…

Then there is the poor pony I have named him Chocolate, yep you guessed it, he is brown… original hey….

Anyway….

The poor thing is tied to a fence at all times, has scant water and no shade…. his hooves need trimming so badly he can not put his back foot down anymore but when I sneak out at 0300 to feed him and give him water and some carrots and apple, he has the most beautiful nature…. he is so sad the poor thing and I want to steal him…

I have called the Ranger and RSPCA, they know the family and will not come out without a police escort due to previous altercations… thankfully they are keeping us out of the report, to quote one person “if they knew it was you who made the report it would not be safe for you” JUST SPLENDID!!!

Last night we had to go into town to pick up the weeks mail and do some groceries… (it is 50km round trip), when we got home next doors car comes flying down the road and drunk as a skunk “Warren” as he tells us his name pulls up to see if we are breaking into his house… (he “has a lot of new stuff in there ya see”) for the goddess sake… He calls us to the fence for a “chat”… the last thing I wanted with less than 2 weeks to go here…

Apparently his mother lives in a house up behind us (about 1km away) and he saw the lights near his place and panicked, thought he was being robbed…. anyway… he starts to tell us how his 2 boys now play for the Tigers and they were paid 16k each to play one game the other day… fair enough… did we want him to mow our lawn… would only cost us a “cone”… great, just what I needed, thankfully the gardener is coming today to do the lawns for us…  can’t get over how big Dave is… “jeez your tall brudda” kept being repeated over and over… so I took the chance and asked him if he wanted to graze the pony in our yard seeing it was so green and lush after all the rain we had… “yeah come and get him tomorrow sissa”….

Excellent, so Chocolate will be over later this afternoon where I can get a better look at his condition… maybe give him a good brush down and feed… as well as some cuddles…

I do hope the boys get signed up for the football team, it might just give them a way out of the life they are now in…

and I hope the RSPCA come and take Chocolate away and  give him a better life…

I hate seeing kids and animals so badly neglected… it is so sad, especially when there is NO GOOD REASON!!!!
