Soundtrack to Dave: Mr Gorgeous (and Miss Curvaceous) Thursday, Sep 2 2010

Lastly, we have Smoke City, who became if not famous, then noticed, for their song Underwater Love, which featured as the backing track for a jeans commercial. I’d hoped to find a clip for their awesome song London, but alas, ’twas not to be. Instead, this is Mr Gorgeous (and Miss Curvaceous), a sad tale of two people who are too beautiful to love.

And that’s it! Have a wonderful rest of the day! I hope I’ve given you a new favourite song or two!

Soundtrack to Dave: Show Me How to Live Thursday, Sep 2 2010

A couple of years ago, my friend Mark W would go on and on about Audioslave’s Show Me How to Live whilst we were out drinking. Eventually, his inebriated urgings got me to listen to the song, and I’m glad that his persistence paid off. I mean, you’ve got the vocals of Soundgarden and the instrumentals of Rage Against the Machine. How awesome is that?

Soundtrack to Dave: Prehistoric Dog Thursday, Sep 2 2010

Now, to kick it up a notch, we have Red Fang’s Prehistoric Dog. I love the song on its own merits, but the clip is a cool nod to all the drunks and gamers out there. Of which I’ve known a few…

Soundtrack to Dave: The Asphalt World Thursday, Sep 2 2010

Yes, the clip sucks, but fortunately, the song doesn’t. Suede’s The Asphalt World is one of contemporary music’s overlooked treasures, with an instrumental that easily holds its own against Hotel California or Stairway to Heaven. Just close your eyes, sit back and enjoy the music.

Soundtrack to Dave: Duende Thursday, Sep 2 2010

I can’t remember who it was, but back in my Tribe 8 days, someone on the mailing list put me onto Delerium. Duende, in particular, resonated with me, but it’s only recently that I discovered that they made a clip for it.
